    Good afternoon, all

Several testers and Irrigation companies have asked for information to share with irrigation customers regarding TAW's Cross Connection Department's plan to enforce the State of Tennessee requirement for irrigation systems.

    • By 2027, irrigation systems must be protected by a Reduced Pressure Backflow Assembly (RP) vs a Double Check Valve Backflow Assembly (DC)

    • Prior to 2027, if a DC fails testing, it must be replaced with an RP

    • Effective 2027, we will no longer make exceptions for any irrigation system not protected by an RP (no Grandfather clause for some assemblies, etc.)

The attached should explain this requirement and generally address the proper installation of an RP.  Similar information will also be mailed or emailed to known irrigation customers in advance of 2027.

If there are comments or additional questions, please email or call.

    Thanks,

    Rick
